The word “driven” does not begin to capture how the founders of Grid, Drs. Robert R. Blake and Jane Srygley Mouton, felt about furthering Grid. After Mouton’s death in 1987, Blake’s passion for research never waned, even after retiring in 1997. Every conversation was an opportunity to study behavior; every book, political event, or movie an opportunity for a new perspective for exploring Grid theory and methodology. Blake left an indelible mark by constantly exploring how human effectiveness emerges and how it might be enhanced, and wrote in his autobiography that, “the satisfaction from effort comes far more from the processes inherent in teamwork than in its products or achievements.”

Drs. Blake and Mouton published 135 books, 460 professional journal articles, and 290 book chapters.
