Clarifying Grid Concepts
Activity Focus
Team members have read the text, “The Grid®: A Framework for Evaluating Effectiveness”, and completed the multiple-choice questions, as Prework. You may have drawn conclusions about the Grid theory, or perhaps related descriptions in the text to your own values, your team, and/or organizational culture. This activity gives you the chance to share these convictions and values with your team members and begin developing shared assumptions about sound and unsound behavior.
Activity Goals
Clarify your understanding of Grid concepts by articulating and comparing your personal views with team members.
Begin developing a team culture by working together on a specific task.
Evaluate and apply the resources of your team members to reach the best possible team
Step 1: Reaching Team Answers on the Grid Concepts True/False Test
As a team, reach agreement on the best answer to each of the True/False questions. Feel free to refer to your individual answers and notes during the discussions, but do not refer to the text during the activity. Your individual values and attitudes regarding effective teamwork may vary from the concepts presented; however, your convictions are addressed in later activities. The purpose of this activity is to clarify your understanding of the concepts as presented in the Prework reading. Although team discussions may lead you to change your mind about an individual answer, do not change your original answers, as these are very important to the scoring activity that follows. Record your team answers on the column Team on the right hand side of pages 45-48 that follow. As outlined in the individual Prework, answers will be scored according to the following point system:
- Correct answers: 3 points
- Incorrect answers: -3 points
- Unanswered items: 0 points
